Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler Likely to Miss Remainder of Regular Season with Broken Thumb

Multiple sources have revealed that Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler is likely to miss the final six games of the regular season after breaking the thumb on his throwing hand – that will require surgery – in the victory against the San Diego Chargers Sunday. It is unclear on what play that Cutler suffered the injury as he did not comment on it during the post-game remarks to reporters.

The Bears will now turn to last year’s almost playoff hero Caleb Hanie in the short term, but will likely look outside of the organization for additional reinforcement with rookie Nathan Enderle the only other QB on the roster. A name that comes to mind is recently retired Marc Bulger. Due to his knowledge of Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz’ play book, it would only take a week or two to get acclimated, meaning the Bears shouldn’t lose too much ground on their current playoff push.
